Grandma Louisa

Couple moments I want to remember, both good & bad & weird {hehe} This is an extremely long post but I want to remember all the special moments my kids had with gma Louisa while living at gparent Halls house.

2nd day at gparents house, 6am and Kyler is standing above me shaking my shoulder. "Mom he says I heard a loud noise." My reply "Ky it was probably nothing, just go back to sleep." 7:45am rolls around and I finally drag myself out of bed. As I am heading to the bathroom we share with Louisa I hear her saying "Jamie, Kyler, Jaelin is that you?" I reply in a tired voice "Yea gma whats up?"{her door to bathroom was shut}.. She then replys "Um I just needed help," so I open the door and their lays on the ground my gma.

I ask gma what happened and she states she lost her balance. I ask how long she was laying their {since she is blind she really doesn't know} and she replys a long time, and then it hits me like a bag of bricks. THAT was the noise Kyler heard. My gma has been laying on the floor for 2 hours and I was too lazy to get out of bed {in my defense I never thought the loud noise Ky heard could have been her}

Needless to say, that day I went to the store, bought a whistle, found a lanyard big enough to go around her neck and she has worn it {& had to use it} since.

Now that I have shared our living arrangements for the last 4 months I want to write about how amazing my SIX year old daughter is. {She turned 6 less then 2 weeks before we made the big move}

When we approached my gparents about moving in with them & Louisa {my g-gma whom is 95, blind & almost completely deaf} I had a huge fear, Jaelin bonding too closely with gma Louisa {I realize that sounds horrible, but I promise it will make sense} and something bad happening.

Jaelin has been gma's everything. Jaelin takes gma for 2 walks around the house every day {each walk is 272 feet and takes about 11 minutes}. Every morning Jaelin wakes up, gets gma her cereal, her morning pills, and helps gma pick out her clothes. Every night Jaelin helps gma to the bathroom, patiently waits on her bed, helps gma get in her night gown, gives her night time pills, tucks her in and kisses her good night.

I can not put in words how proud, blessed, amazed, and touched by the bond that has formed between these two ladies. I can not name another 6 year old who can identify which is gmas poopy pill, water pill, heart burn pill, sleepy pill, and pain pill {she knows exactly what is what & what gma is supposed to take at night & morning}. She has no problem helping gma undress and get dressed {gma does wear garments so she isn't nude but still how many people feel comfortable dressing an older person}

I love watching Jaelin sing songs, read books and just carry random conversations with gma Louisa. I honestly feel they are the best of friends and have a powerful bond that many of us can never understand. I love my daughter SO much and can not be any prouder of the strength and heart she has for her gma!!

While living here we have had to pick gma up off the floor, feed her, bathe her, wash her clothes, give her meds, entertain her, but most importantly be there for her. We have took her to the hospital** against her will {chest pains} and have got her hooked up with a home health nurse. I admire the strength she has and the faith she has at her age.

**Hospital** - This was the hardest day I have encountered in a long time. Gma Louisa woke up at 6am and just didn't seem right. She was having chest pains and I just knew something wasn't normal. The gparents were out of town so gma Louisa was my responsibility so I called my mom, woke up the hubby and we decided she needed to go to hospital.

Tony & Mom took her to hospital while I stayed home with sleeping kids. When Jaelin woke up she went straight to gmas room, I saw her walk around the house, look on the front porch, then come to front room were I was sitting. She looks at my confused and worried and asks where gma Louisa was. I simply stated "She went to the hospital, she isn't feeling well." I can't put into words Jaelin's face when I said that. She looked scared, lost, confused, broken hearted. I could tell she was fighting back tears so I explained to her the gma is old and her heart isnt strong like ours. She then asked me when gma would be home, and I told her I wasn't sure.

Her next comment tore me. She looks at me broken hearted and says "Mom promise me, promise me gma is coming back home." I could feel the tears building up in my eyes {as they are now writing this} and I told her I couldn't promise her that, but that my heart believed she would be home soon. {thank goodness I was right}. Anyways Jaelin left to get dressed and came back and made me aware that gma hadn't had her morning pills and did I think she was okay. I decided to call my mom to see how gma was and see if we could get Jae in the ER to see her.

My mom went and talked to dr's/nurses, told them the amazing bond between gma Louisa & Jaelin, and they allowed her in the ER. I told Jaelin that gma was just being "babysat" and that she was doing good. We get to the hospital and Jaelin is so excited to see her, but right when we walk into gma's room & Jaelin sees gma on hospital bed she breaks down. She is bawling hysterical & burys her head in my side. Gma Louisa is trying to get Jaelin to come see her and Jaelin walks over there, grabs gmas hand & they are now both crying {it was killing me inside}. I went out for a minute to give them a moment to chat, but I soon realized Jaelin was only getting more emotional so my mom took her out for a walk.

For the next 2 days while gma was admitted for observation, we took Jaelin for visits. Jaelin wanted to be there for as many meals as possible, and to make sure they were giving her all her meds. {She would ask dr/nurses if gma got all her pills, it was too cute}

Again I am so proud that at 6 years old Jaelin has turned into such an amazing young lady. Her strength, power, love and bond she has built makes her unbelievable.

**She actually asked if maybe she can just stay at gma & gpa house to take care of gma Louisa instead of living with us in new house. In return I promised her we could come at least 2 times a week for Jaelin to put her in bed.**

Momma....

Finally!

9 months & 12 days later Brysen FINALLY said momma!! Words can't even explain how excited I {was &} AM!

A {very long/detailed}Story on how it happened: I have tried and tried to get him to say MOM but he just wouldn't do it. I would say it to him numerous times a day, dad would say it, I would even whisper it in his ear when he was sleeping, but no matter how hard I tried he just wouldn't say MOM.

And then this magical day arrived. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner {chicken tacos, yum yum}, Brysen {aka lil John} was chilling on the couch watching Nascar with grandpa John {hence the name lil John}& grandma Barb was in bed {no we do not eat dinner after 8pm, she just likes her bed a LOT}. So gpa John watches Nascar like he is in a movie theater, so you can rarely hear a word, but I could hear Brysen faintly babbling at the remote control {I am pretty sure he was saying something like, If gpa would let me I would SO be eating this remote right now, I wonder if he would catch me if I just quickly place it in my mouth...}

Anyways, I holler to gpa that dinner is ready and he {finally} lowers the volume to the TV and shouts MOM {that is what he calls gma, his wife} get out of bed, dinner is ready. So a minute or two goes by and he shouts MOM again. And next thing I hear Brysen is saying momamama, momamama. For a minute I thought I was hearing things, so I walked into the front room and asked gpa if Brysen said Mom, and he said thats what I was wondering {It has been a big deal in the house working to get him to say momma, even the g-parentals were involved}. So I tell Gpa to shout MOM {to gma} again, and not seconds after he shouts MOM Brysen says momamama.

I didn't know if I should celebrate or cry! Talk about tearing at the Heart strings. I was ecstatic! Needless to say he now says MOMMA!!!!! And I LOVE it!!!

Side Note: Brysen has been saying Dada since he was around 6 months old. He started saying baba (bottle) around 7 months & byebye {with a wave if you are lucky} about a month ago.

**Kyler & Jaelin are now competing to see which of their names will be spoken first, crazy kids**

4 things that keep me going...

It has been 9 months & a lot has happened. I have 4 amazing things that has kept me going and I love them to death. Here is what is new with the Worthen group!

Dad aka Tony -
Tony has been an amazing dad. Although we have our moments {louder then normal disagreements} we do love each other! Tony has been working his butt off in this nasty heat and has just taken on a second job to help us save money for {you will find out in August} Tony loves to constantly be going. He has learned to make fun things with a plasma cutter, bracelets and much more!

Mom aka ME -
I have been adjusting to being home all the time and not getting to spend money {as much as I like to}. I wish I could say I have my life in order but I would be lying. I am working on it though and I really hope that in the next month things will only start to get better.

Kyler -
Boy, well that sums it up. jk. What a hyper, energetic, outgoing, busy BOY! He is a spittin' image of his daddy. He wants to constantly be going all the time. He loves to be outside mostly riding his dirt bike or helping out his daddy & gpa around the yard or with the cars. Kyler recently turned 8 and has been talking about getting baptized. Although we are LDS, we are not active so that is something we need to start thinking about further.

Jaelin -
This girl I swear to you lived her first life in the 60's. She is madly obsessed with peace signs, hearts, & flowers. Everything she buys has one or all of them on it. She is constantly drawing and writing letters. She loves to sing and is really wanting to learn to play the piano. Once August comes and we can get back into a normal life schedule I will begin to look into piano lessons & singing lessons for her!

Brysen aka Mommy's boy -
Wow, I have never had the opportunity to spend more then 3 weeks home with my babies. Brysen on the other hand I have spent every day {minus the 2 weeks back to work} with, and it shows. He is 95% of the time attached at my hip. I love that he loves me so much, but sometimes it is a real nuisance when you have to find the bumbo just so you can go to the bathroom!
Brysen is now 9 months old. He has absolutely no interest in learning to crawl, scoot, anything. He has been off the bottle since 5 months, and quit taking the pacifier at about 4 months. Although I realize he should be crawling there has been a great reasoning in my eyes why he has yet to learn how to do that, but come August things will change. Hey you never know he might just skip the whole crawling thing.

Brysen stats:
-has 8 teeth and 2 more coming through {he has had 8 since about 7 months}
-loves food mostly strawberries and apples
-loves to sing songs, patty cake is his favorite
-is obsessed with dogs (which I don't know why since we don't have any}
-loves to be outside

All in all our family has been great! We have made some great sacrifices, but I truly believe they are all worth what is to come!

Until then,
J'me

Momma MIA & back...

Hello Blogging world... I am back {I hope}!

I have no real good excuse for not having blogged in 8 {or so} months, other then I am a slacker. I hit rock bottom for awhile trying to adjust to the new life style of not having a J-O-B and being a stay-at-home mom. It is crazy difficult. I know many mom's dream of this opportunity, and don't get me me wrong I LOVE being home, it just took some time to adjust!

Anyways our life has been quite interesting in 2011 but I am so stinkin' excited for August to come! I would LOVE to tell you why, but I am one of those weird paranoid people who believe if they talk about it something will go wrong, so I guess {hope, dream, wish} that in 3o days or less I will be sharing some exciting news!

For now I look forward to being back!
